This bill mandates the New Jersey Department of Transportation (DOT) to enhance its annual report to the Governor and Legislature regarding the condition of the state's roadway pavement. The report must now include detailed information on pothole repair projects, such as the number of repairs completed, the costs associated with these projects, the resources allocated for each maintenance task, and estimated timeframes for project completion, including emergency pothole repairs. Additionally, the report will now be made publicly accessible on the department's website.
Furthermore, the bill requires the DOT to conduct a lifecycle cost analysis of pavement surfaces, which will assess the costs associated with maintenance, repair, and resurfacing, as well as the financial impact on users of State roadways due to pothole damage. This analysis must include data on pothole damage claims and their associated costs, as recorded by the Division of Risk Management within the Department of the Treasury. Similar to the annual report, the findings from this lifecycle cost analysis will also be made available to the public online.
