This bill amends existing law to allow municipalities to charge reduced or no beach fees for children aged 12 to 17. It also revises the provisions regarding beach fees for veterans, enabling municipalities to offer reduced or no fees to honorably discharged veterans without the previous stipulation that they must have served at least 90 days in active duty or have been discharged due to a service-related injury or disability.
The bill specifies that municipalities may, by ordinance, provide exemptions from beach fees for various groups, including individuals aged 65 and older, those with disabilities, active military personnel and their families, and Gold Star Family members. The new provisions will expand the eligibility for reduced fees to include children aged 12 to 17 and simplify the criteria for veterans, thereby broadening access to beach facilities for these groups.
