This bill mandates the Adjutant General of the New Jersey Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA) to establish a program aimed at assisting veterans in obtaining evaluation and treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), total brain injury, or traumatic brain injury related to their military service. The program is designed to provide various forms of support, including guidance, transportation, help with filing disability compensation claims, and access to health care and other relevant services at local, state, and federal levels.
Additionally, the bill defines a "veteran" as any individual who has served in the Armed Forces of the United States or a Reserve component, including the New Jersey National Guard. This definition is included to clarify the population that the program will serve. The bill is set to take effect immediately upon enactment.
