This bill permits the issuance of a motorcycle endorsement to certain out-of-State military personnel, including their spouses and dependents, who hold a valid New Jersey driver's license. The endorsement can be obtained without the need to return to New Jersey to retake a written or road test or complete another motorcycle safety course. To receive the endorsement, the individual must submit a written request along with the established fee and provide documentation proving successful completion of an approved Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) Rider Education Course that is substantially similar to the state's requirements, as well as proof of their assignment outside of New Jersey.
The bill aims to streamline the process for military members and their families, allowing them to maintain their motorcycle endorsement while serving away from the state. The Chief Administrator of the Motor Vehicle Commission is tasked with issuing the endorsement by mail upon receipt of the necessary documentation and payment. The act is set to take effect on the first day of the third month following its enactment.
