This bill amends existing telemarketing regulations in New Jersey to require telemarketers to display their name and telephone number on caller identification services when making sales calls. Specifically, it prohibits telemarketers from failing to transmit this information and allows them to substitute the name and customer service number of the seller on whose behalf the call is made. Additionally, the bill clarifies that telemarketers cannot block caller identification services or use deceptive methods to misrepresent their identity.

The bill also reinforces existing restrictions on unsolicited telemarketing calls, including a prohibition on calling customers listed on the no-call list, with specific exceptions for calls made within three months of a customer's number being added to the list. Furthermore, it establishes that telemarketing calls cannot be made during certain hours, specifically between 9:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. local time. The act is set to take effect immediately but will remain inoperative for 60 days following its enactment.
