This bill amends the current law regarding on-premises licenses for barbershops and salons, specifically increasing the licensing fee from $100 to $480. It allows licensed salons and barbershops to serve one alcoholic beverage per customer receiving services, with specific limits on the amount of alcohol served per appointment. Additionally, the bill mandates that the liquor commission conduct annual inspections of these establishments and requires them to maintain records of patrons served. It also stipulates that individuals under 21 years of age may be present in the salon but are prohibited from consuming alcohol.
Furthermore, the bill introduces several new requirements, including that all employees of the licensed establishments must complete responsible beverage service training and keep records of this training available for inspection. The liquor commission is also tasked with submitting an annual report to legislative leaders detailing the number of licenses applied for, granted, and denied, as well as the number of inspections conducted and violations reported. The act will take effect 60 days after its passage.
