This bill amends existing law to require that each candidate's party affiliation be printed on town and school district ballots. Specifically, it introduces a new section, RSA 669:13-a, which allows towns that have adopted an official ballot system to vote on whether to include candidates' party affiliations next to their names on the ballot. The party affiliation will be indicated using the first three letters of the party's name in parentheses, or "(UND)" if the candidate has no declared party. Additionally, towns can vote to rescind this provision if they choose to do so in future meetings.

The bill also adds new paragraphs to RSA 671:20, allowing school districts to adopt similar provisions regarding the inclusion of party affiliations on their official ballots. Like the town provisions, school districts can vote to include or rescind the inclusion of party affiliations based on the majority of qualified voters present at their meetings. The act is set to take effect 60 days after its passage.
