This bill amends the process for filling vacancies in the office of county commissioner. Specifically, it requires that when a vacancy occurs, it must be filled by the members of the county convention representing the cities and towns in the commissioner's district. The bill removes the previous provision that allowed for the possibility of the vacancy being filled by the members of the county convention in Hillsborough County, thereby streamlining the process to ensure that only the relevant county convention members are involved in the decision.

Additionally, the bill stipulates that the vacancy must be filled by a majority of the ballots cast until the next biennial election of county officers. If the term filled is less than the unexpired term, the position will be included on the next biennial election ballot for a 2-year term. The act is set to take effect 60 days after its passage.
