This bill amends the definition and limitations of part-time employment for retired members of the New Hampshire retirement system. It introduces exceptions to the existing 28-day waiting period for part-time employment after retirement, specifically for those who are engaged in emergency services or who were concurrently employed at the time of their retirement. The bill modifies RSA 100-A:1, XXXIV to clarify that retired members can work part-time without exceeding 1,352 hours in a calendar year, but they cannot be employed for 28 days post-retirement unless exceptions apply under RSA 100-A:7-b.
Additionally, the bill amends RSA 100-A:7-b to state that hours worked during emergencies will not count towards the annual limitations on part-time employment. It defines emergencies as events declared by the governor or those related to woodland fire control under the direction of the division of forests and lands. Furthermore, it allows retired members who were concurrently employed in a part-time position at the time of retirement to bypass the 28-day waiting period for that specific employment, provided they meet other requirements outlined in the chapter. The act will take effect 60 days after its passage.
