This bill amends the composition of the New Hampshire Water Well Board by reducing the number of members from seven to six. Specifically, it removes the position of the state geologist from the board, which previously included one member from that role. The revised board will now consist of the commissioner of the Department of Environmental Services or their designee, two active water well contractors with at least ten years of experience, one active pump installer with at least ten years of experience, one active technical driller licensed in New Hampshire with at least ten years of experience, and one public member knowledgeable about water resources management in the state.
The bill also stipulates that each member will serve a three-year term, with a limit of two consecutive terms, and allows for the governor and council to remove any member for good cause. The changes are set to take effect immediately upon passage, which is approved for April 22, 2026.
