This bill amends the current law regarding the tenure of office for the deputy adjutant general within the department of military affairs and veterans services by removing the maximum age limit for holding the position. Specifically, it deletes the provision that previously mandated the deputy adjutant general must leave office upon reaching the age of 65 years. The introductory paragraph of RSA 110-B:8-b is revised to state that the deputy adjutant general shall serve a term of four years without any age restriction.

In addition to the removal of the age limit, the bill maintains the requirement that the deputy adjutant general must have at least five years of service in the New Hampshire National Guard or the United States Armed Forces and must have attained the rank of major prior to appointment. The salary for the deputy adjutant general will continue to be prescribed by law. The act is set to take effect 60 days after its passage.
