This bill amends existing regulations regarding the maximum number of residential parking spaces allowed per unit. The new legal language specifies that local legislative bodies may not set the maximum residential parking spaces per unit to exceed one parking space per residential unit. However, exceptions are made for studio and one-bedroom units under 1,000 square feet that meet workforce housing requirements, as well as for multi-family developments consisting of 10 units or more, which may allow up to 1.5 parking spaces per unit.

The bill deletes the previous provision that permitted a maximum of 1.5 residential parking spaces per unit for certain housing types and replaces it with the new stipulation of one parking space per unit, with the specified exceptions. This change aims to streamline parking regulations and potentially address issues related to parking availability in residential areas. The act will take effect 60 days after its passage.
