This bill amends the definition of "family" for the purpose of purchasing a "Hike Safe" card to include domestic partners and their children. Specifically, it modifies RSA 206:26-bb, I(c) to state that a family will consist of the purchaser, the purchaser's spouse or domestic partner, and their minor children or stepchildren, as well as the minor children of the purchaser's domestic partner. Additionally, if the purchaser or their spouse or domestic partner is a family guardian for an individual, that individual will also be considered part of the family. The bill also clarifies that a "domestic partner" is defined as someone who shares the same address as the purchaser.

The bill further establishes that the executive director will set the fees for individual and family hike safe cards and will manage the issuance and renewal process through the department's Internet site. The collected fees, minus a transaction fee for the Internet license agent, will be forwarded to the state treasurer for deposit in the fish and game search and rescue fund. The act is set to take effect 60 days after its passage.
