This bill amends the definition of "family" for the purpose of purchasing a hike safe card to include domestic partners and their children. Specifically, it modifies RSA 206:26-bb, I(c) to state that a "family" consists of the purchaser, the purchaser's spouse or domestic partner, and the purchaser's minor children, stepchildren, or the minor children of the purchaser's domestic partner. Additionally, it includes individuals for whom the purchaser or their spouse/domestic partner has been appointed as a family guardian. The bill also clarifies that a "domestic partner" is defined as someone who shares the same address as the purchaser.
The bill establishes that the executive director will set the fees for individual and family hike safe cards and will manage the issuance and renewal process through the department's Internet site. It mandates that the collected fees, minus a transaction fee for the Internet license agent, will be forwarded to the state treasurer for deposit in the fish and game search and rescue fund. The act is set to take effect 60 days after its passage, with an effective date of August 30, 2025.
