This bill amends RSA 671:20 regarding the preparation of school district election ballots. It mandates that the school district clerk prepare ballots in a manner similar to town clerks for non-partisan or partisan elections, with the stipulation that the ballot must be a different color from others used in the election. Notably, the bill introduces new requirements for information to be printed on the ballot immediately before the question of adopting a school budget. This includes the average cost-per-pupil for the preceding year and the school district's achievement proficiency scores in English Language Arts (ELA), Math, and Science, formatted as specific percentages.
Additionally, the bill includes a contingency clause that determines the effective date of its provisions based on the status of another bill, HB 356, from the 2025 legislative session. If HB 356 becomes law, the provisions in section 1 of this act will not take effect, while section 2 will take effect 60 days after its passage. Conversely, if HB 356 does not pass, section 1 will take effect 60 days after its passage, and section 2 will not take effect. The remainder of the act is set to take effect upon its passage.
