This bill mandates the Department of Education, in collaboration with the Department of Health and Human Services, to create or identify existing informational materials regarding type 1 diabetes. These materials must be made available on the Department of Education's website and should be periodically updated. Local school districts are required to ensure that these materials are accessible to parents and guardians of students, utilizing methods such as their own websites or other digital means.
The bill specifies that the informational materials must include a description of type 1 diabetes, risk factors and warning signs, recommendations for consulting a primary care provider for screening, an overview of the screening process and implications of test results, and guidance for developing a treatment plan post-diagnosis. The new section added to RSA 200 is 200:40-d, which outlines these requirements, while no deletions from current law are noted in the text. The act is set to take effect upon its passage on July 15, 2025.
