This bill amends current law to establish that all driver's license examinations and related materials must be available exclusively in the English language, with the exception of American Sign Language for individuals who communicate using sign language. It prohibits any requests for examinations in languages other than English or American Sign Language, and mandates that all individuals seeking to renew or reinstate their licenses must take the examination in English or American Sign Language. Additionally, the bill requires that the Department of Safety and the Division of Motor Vehicles refrain from acquiring any examination materials in languages other than English or American Sign Language, and any existing non-English materials must not be distributed or displayed.

Furthermore, the bill explicitly prohibits the use of any translation assistance during the examination process, including in-person translators, mobile translation applications, and translation software on electronic devices. However, it allows for devices that assist individuals with hearing or seeing the English language or American Sign Language. The Department of Safety is tasked with adopting rules to implement these provisions, and the act is set to take effect on January 1, 2026.
