This bill amends RSA 266:61-a, IX to allow health care providers affiliated with the Veterans Administration (VA) to certify medical accommodations for veterans residing in New Hampshire. Specifically, it permits these providers, regardless of their state of licensure, to provide the necessary medical certification or documentation required for a waiver of certain motor vehicle equipment requirements. This change aims to facilitate the process for veterans who need special permits for aftermarket tinted windows due to bona fide medical reasons.
The bill also maintains the existing provisions regarding the waiver process, which includes the requirement for a light transmittance of not less than 35 percent for tinted windows. The commissioner retains the authority to seek advice from a designated medical review board when reviewing applications for permits. The effective date of the act is set for 60 days after its passage, which is August 23, 2025.
