This bill amends RSA 91-A:3, II(c) to enhance the rights of individuals attending public meetings where discussions may adversely affect their reputation. The new legal language allows a person who has the right to attend a public meeting to request that the meeting remain open, even if the discussion could negatively impact their reputation. Specifically, it states that if such a person requests an open meeting, their request must be granted. This change aims to provide individuals with greater control over their participation in discussions that concern them.

Additionally, the bill clarifies that this exemption applies to any applications for assistance, tax abatements, or waivers of fees based on the applicant's inability to pay or poverty. The existing language that required a person to request an open meeting has been replaced with provisions that ensure their right to attend and request an open meeting is recognized and upheld. The act will take effect 60 days after its passage.
