This bill amends RSA 189:18 to require public schools to dedicate one session during the weeks of Memorial Day, Constitution Day, and Veterans Day to exercises of a patriotic nature. The new legal language inserted into the current law includes the addition of Constitution Day as a recognized occasion for these exercises. Furthermore, the bill specifies that the patriotic exercises should encompass discussions about the Pledge of Allegiance and the Star Spangled Banner, and may also include speakers, instruction, presentations, and other appropriate events. Additionally, it introduces the idea that federal Constitution exercises may recognize the New Hampshire constitution and address citizens' rights and responsibilities.

The bill deletes the previous requirement that only Memorial Day and Veterans Day be recognized, expanding the scope to include Constitution Day. The effective date of the act is set for 60 days after its passage, which is scheduled for August 1, 2025.
