This bill amends existing election laws to change the timing of election audits in relation to recounts. Specifically, it modifies the introductory paragraph of RSA 660:17-b to state that the secretary of state's office will conduct audits
after the completion of recounts for state representative races, rather than
in addition to recounting. Additionally, RSA 660:17-c is amended to clarify that the secretary of state shall complete any audit
after the completion of a recount for any requested recount, rather than
prior to the commencement of the audit.
The bill aims to ensure that election audits occur only after recounts have been finalized, potentially enhancing the integrity and accuracy of the election process. The effective date of the act is set for 60 days after its passage, allowing for a transition period to implement these changes.
