This bill amends existing laws regarding the delivery of absentee ballots in New Hampshire. Specifically, it extends the deadline for absentee ballot delivery from the previous cutoff of 5:00 p.m. on election day to the close of the polling place. The bill modifies RSA 657:17, III, RSA 657:22, and RSA 654:2-a, II(a) to reflect this change, replacing the deleted language of "5:00 p.m." with the new insertion of "the close of the polling place."
Additionally, the bill maintains the requirement for delivery agents to complete a form and present government-issued photo identification when delivering absentee ballots. It also stipulates that any completed absentee ballots received after the new deadline will be recorded as rejected in the statewide centralized voter registration database. The act is set to take effect 60 days after its passage.
