This bill amends the current law regarding the collection of information on birth worksheets by hospitals. It updates the language to specify that the current name and prior name of the mother should be recorded, replacing the term "maiden name" with "prior to first marriage or civil union." Additionally, the bill revises the intervals for reporting Apgar scores, now requiring that they be recorded at one minute, five minutes, and ten minutes after birth.

Furthermore, the bill introduces new provisions that restrict the release of personally identifiable information by the division of vital records when sharing birth information with the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). Specifically, it prohibits the inclusion of names, birth months and days, medical record numbers, and residential addresses. However, it allows for the release of the birth year of the parents and the birth date of the baby. The bill is set to take effect on June 30, 2026.
