This bill renews the committee tasked with studying non-pharmacological treatment options for patients with chronic pain. The committee's work is based on the findings that a patient-centric, integrated model of care is a credible and practical foundation for a pilot program. The committee is directed to continue its work for another year to explore the creation of an innovative payment method to support this new model of care.
The committee will consist of six legislative members and will focus on designing a pilot program that is patient-centric, provider-friendly, and utilizes existing provider networks with standard reimbursement rates. The study will also include researching the creation of such a program with various entities, investigating the overall cost and potential funding opportunities, enhancing awareness of non-pharmacological treatments, and designing a process to collect meaningful data over 3 to 5 years. The committee is authorized to solicit input from relevant persons or entities and is required to submit an interim report by November 1, 2024, and a final report by November 1, 2025. The act will take effect upon its passage, with an effective date of July 26, 2024.
