This bill amends existing laws to increase the number of members on the board of pharmacy from 5 to 7. The new composition of the board will include 5 practicing pharmacists (with at least one being a full-time hospital pharmacist), one pharmacy technician, and one public member. The bill specifies that the pharmacy technician member must have been licensed or certified as a pharmacy technician for at least 10 years and practiced in the state for at least 5 years at the time of their appointment. The bill also renumbers the existing sections to accommodate the addition of the pharmacy technician member.

Additionally, the bill requires the board of accountancy to establish a time frame within which applicants must pass all sections of the certified public accountant (CPA) examination. Previously, applicants had to pass all sections within 18 months of passing the first section. The new language indicates that the time period will be established by the board, in accordance with rules adopted by the board. This act is set to take effect on January 1, 2025.
