This bill allows New Hampshire residents to provide an alternate mailing address to the Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) if they are going to be temporarily absent from their primary residence for a period of less than six months. The bill amends RSA 260:10 to include provisions for the use of an alternate address outside of New Hampshire for DMV correspondence or products, with the exception that original New Hampshire driver licenses or identification cards cannot be sent to an alternate address outside of the state.

The request for an alternate mailing address must be made on a form approved by the director and authorized under RSA 541-A. Additionally, the bill maintains the requirement that all applications filed with the DMV must contain a statement signed under penalty of unsworn falsification pursuant to RSA 641:3. The director has the authority to suspend or revoke licenses or certificates of registration if false statements are made or fraudulent documents are used in applications. The act was approved on July 3, 2024, and will take effect on September 1, 2024.
