This bill amends existing law to allow pharmacists, pharmacy interns, licensed advanced pharmacy technicians, or certified pharmacy technicians under the supervision of an on-site immunizing pharmacist to administer influenza and COVID-19 vaccines to the general public. Additionally, it permits the administration of other FDA-licensed vaccines recommended by the CDC Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices to individuals 18 years of age or older as ordered by an immunizing pharmacist. The bill removes the requirement for explicit approval from the general court for pharmacists to administer these vaccines.

The bill also updates the requirements for those administering vaccines. It specifies that the administering individual must hold a current license or registration, possess professional liability insurance coverage of at least $1,000,000, complete vaccine administration training, have a current certificate in basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and comply with other outlined procedures such as providing notice to the patient's primary care provider, recording the vaccination in the state vaccine registry, submitting reports of adverse reactions, and reviewing vaccination records before administering vaccines. The act is set to take effect 60 days after its passage, with an approved date of August 02, 2024, and an effective date of October 01, 2024.
