This bill amends RSA 261:90 to change the color scheme of the official cover plates issued to members of the governor's council. The new design for the governor's council plates will be white with blue lettering, which will be issued every biennium. This change is an exception to the existing color scheme of official cover plates, which are white with green lettering alternating with red lettering every other biennium. The bill specifies that the governor's council plates will have their council district numbers embossed on them, while other officials' plates will have their titles or designated numbers.
The bill also confirms that the fee for official cover plates will be $1 in addition to any other number plate manufacturing fee required. It reiterates that no more than two sets of official cover plates may be issued to any person and that these plates can only be attached to vehicles registered in the name of the person issued the plates or their spouse, or any vehicle operated by a member of the general court. The act is set to take effect on January 1, 2025, as approved on July 19, 2024.
