This bill requires school nurses to be licensed by the board of nursing instead of being certified by the state board of education. It removes the requirement for certification by the state board of education. The bill also states that a superintendent may nominate and a school board may appoint a school nurse to function in the school health program, and provide the nurse with proper facilities and equipment. The bill will take effect 60 days after its passage.
The Legislative Budget Assistant has determined that this legislation will have a total fiscal impact of less than $10,000 in each of the fiscal years 2024 through 2027. The Department of Education and the Office of Professional Licensure and Certification have been contacted regarding this bill.
