This bill amends current law regarding the residency requirements for deputy town clerks. It removes the provision that allows for the filling of vacancies for town clerk when the deputy town clerk does not have their domicile in the town. The bill also removes the requirement for the elected town clerk to appoint the deputy town clerk, instead giving that authority to the selectmen. The bill will take effect on January 1, 2024.
