This bill requires that appointments to fill vacancies for members of cooperative school boards with at large elections must be domiciled in the same municipality as the outgoing member. The bill amends RSA 195:19-a by adding a new paragraph VIII to specify this requirement. Additionally, the bill amends RSA 671:33, II(b) to clarify the process for filling vacancies on cooperative school boards. If there are at least 2 remaining members representing the same town or towns as the departed member, they will fill the vacancy. If there are less than 2 remaining members or if they are unable to agree on an appointment, the selectmen of the town or towns involved will fill the vacancy. If the selectmen are unable to fill the vacancy, the cooperative school district moderator will make the appointment. The appointed member must satisfy the requirements under RSA 195:19-a, VIII and will serve until the next district election. The bill will take effect 60 days after its passage.
