This bill amends RSA 12-G:4, I to require the governor and executive council to appoint certain members of the board of directors of the Pease development authority. Currently, the board of directors is appointed by various entities, including the mayor and city council of Portsmouth, the board of selectmen of Newington, and the board of selectmen of Greenland and Newington jointly. The bill removes the mayor and city council of Portsmouth and the board of selectmen of Newington from the appointment process, and instead requires the governor and executive council to appoint a member from each of these entities. The bill also adds a provision for the governor and executive council to appoint a member from one of the towns of Greenland, Rye, or New Castle. Additionally, the bill requires the governor, the senate president, and the speaker of the house to appoint a member nominated by the legislative delegation of Strafford county. The member appointed in this manner must be a resident of Strafford county and serve an initial term of 2 years. Subsequent terms will be governed by the provisions of this section. The bill takes effect 60 days after its passage.
