This bill establishes a sunset commission to evaluate the need for and improvements to various occupational boards and commissions within the Office of Professional Licensure and Certification. The commission will assess the performance of licensing statutes, administrative rules, and boards scheduled to sunset, and will deliver a report to the governor, senate president, and speaker of the house of representatives. The report may include analysis of the law's effects on workers, consumer choices, costs and benefits, and other factors. The commission will also recommend the least restrictive regulation to protect consumers from harm. The bill also repeals various occupational boards and commissions each year through 2031. The Office of Professional Licensure and Certification provides projected revenue and expenditure impacts for the repeal of certain boards in FY 2026 and FY 2027, with estimated revenue loss and expenditure decrease of $187,670 and $2,077,252 respectively. The fiscal impact may be modified if new legislation is filed to not repeal certain boards or only repeal certain boards.
