This bill revises the definition of an adequate public education by specifying the areas of substantive educational content that must be included. The bill repeals and reenacts RSA 193-E:2-a, I to define the specific criteria and educational program that deliver an adequate education. The bill emphasizes the following learning areas: English/language arts and reading, mathematics, science, and social studies. It also includes attention to arts education, world languages, health and wellness education, physical education, engineering and technologies, personal finance literacy, and computer science. Teachers are required to use academic and applied instruction to teach these learning areas, and certain skills such as computer use and digital literacy and logic and rhetoric must be integrated into the curriculum. The bill will take effect on July 1, 2024.
