This bill establishes prohibitions and limitations for the operation of wakeboats and their use in wakesports on public waters of the state. It defines "wakeboat" as a motorboat with devices used to enhance or increase the size of the wake, and "wakesports" as activities such as wakeboarding and wakesurfing. The bill prohibits wakesports between sunset and sunrise, behind a vessel propulsion system that extends beyond the swim platform, on bodies of water smaller than 50 acres, within 500 feet of a shoreline or in-water structures, and in waters less than 20 feet deep. The commissioner is required to develop wakesports zone maps of legal areas on New Hampshire public waters that meet these requirements. The bill will take effect on July 1, 2024.
