This bill amends New Hampshire law to prohibit the disposal of wet-cell batteries, lithium-ion batteries, and electronic devices in any solid waste landfill facility or incinerator within the state. It introduces new requirements for facility owners or operators to implement mechanisms to avoid such disposal, including posting informational signs and providing written notifications or agreements with customers. Additionally, municipalities, solid waste districts, and facility owners or operators are mandated to provide educational materials on the safe handling and recycling of these items and to offer recycling opportunities where possible.

The bill also redefines "electronic device" to include a range of items such as computers, monitors, televisions, wireless phones, and other specified devices, while excluding components of motor vehicles, industrial or commercial equipment, and household appliances. It updates the responsibilities of the Department of Environmental Services to include the collection and preparation of information on recycling opportunities for electronic devices, replacing the term "electronic waste" with "electronic devices." The bill repeals and reenacts definitions related to computers and peripherals, and it repeals a section of the law related to prohibited disposal. The act is set to take effect on July 1, 2025.
