This bill proposes an update to the definition of the "New Hampshire building code" or "state building code" to incorporate the 2021 versions of various international codes, replacing the 2018 versions currently referenced. Specifically, it seeks to update the International Building Code, International Existing Building Code, International Plumbing Code, International Mechanical Code, International Swimming Pool and Spa Code, and the International Residential Code to their 2021 editions. Additionally, it includes the National Electrical Code 2020. The bill also changes the date by which amendments reviewed and approved by the state building code review board are to be included, from May 12, 2023, to May 10, 2024.

The bill stipulates that the updated state building code will include all amendments reviewed and approved by the state building code review board and ratified by the legislature as of May 10, 2024. It clarifies that provisions of any other national or model code referred to within a code listed in the definition will not be included in the state building code unless they are specifically included in the codes listed. The act is set to take effect on July 1, 2024.
