This bill establishes a blood lead level testing requirement for children entering day care and public schools. It amends current law to require that a child's physical examination form include at least one result of blood lead level testing for children ages 6 years and under, unless the child is exempted. If a child has not had a blood lead level test at the time of first entry to school, the school must provide notification to the parent or legal guardian that lead testing is required and distribute educational materials on the dangers of lead poisoning and the importance of testing. The bill also amends the requirements for child day care agencies to include blood lead level testing records and notification to parents or legal guardians.

The bill takes effect on January 1, 2025.
