This bill modifies the existing child day care licensing requirements by allowing private homes to provide care for up to four children in addition to the provider's own children without needing a license. Previously, the law permitted care for only three additional children. The change is reflected by the deletion of the number "3" and the insertion of the number "4" in the relevant section of the law.
The act is set to take effect upon its passage, with an approved and effective date of July 12, 2024. This means that from this date, private home care providers can care for one additional child than before without the need to be licensed, provided that the care is for less than 24 hours and the caregiver does not elect to comply with licensing provisions.
