This bill increases the possession limits for therapeutic cannabis for qualifying patients in New Hampshire. Currently, qualifying patients are allowed to possess up to 2 ounces of usable cannabis and obtain up to 2 ounces in a 10-day period. This bill would increase those limits to 4 ounces for both possession and obtaining in a 10-day period. The bill also applies the same increased limits to designated caregivers who possess cannabis on behalf of qualifying patients.

The bill also includes provisions for penalties and revocation of registry identification cards for violating the possession limits. The bill would take effect on January 1, 2025. The fiscal impact of the bill is indeterminable, but it may have an impact on the judicial and correctional systems, as well as county and local governments. The Department of Health and Human Services has stated that the bill will have no fiscal impact on their department.
