This bill amends the definition of temporary alimony. It specifies that temporary alimony refers to periodic support payments to or on behalf of a spouse while the case is pending and ending on the effective date of the divorce, legal separation, or annulment. The bill also states that temporary alimony shall be subject to the duration limits in RSA 458:19-a, but shall be subject to its formula limits unless a party seeking temporary alimony pleads, and the court finds, that immediate, irreparable economic harm would result if the percentage formula were applied and the court makes specific written findings supporting its order.

The bill will take effect on January 1, 2025.
