This bill amends current law regarding the homestead exemption. It repeals and reenacts RSA 480:1 to specify that every person who owns real property that they occupy as a homestead is entitled to claim a homestead right up to $120,000 of the value of the property. Additionally, the bill grants the non-titled spouse of an owner who also occupies the property as a homestead the right to claim a separate homestead right up to $120,000 of the value of the property. The homestead right also applies to manufactured housing, but does not extend to the land unless it is owned by the owner or the spouse of the owner of the manufactured housing. The bill will take effect 60 days after its passage.
