This bill introduces provisions that allow hotel guests to purchase alcoholic beverages or a bottle of wine at a hotel lounge or full-service restaurant and carry them back to their rooms. The number of alcoholic beverages is limited to the number of registered guests in the room who are 21 years of age or older, and any partially consumed bottle of wine must be securely sealed. Additionally, the bill specifies that stages or designated performing areas and areas designated for entertainers may be approved areas of service.
The bill also amends the existing law regarding the deposit of funds by the liquor commission. It changes the frequency of deposits from a daily to a monthly basis. The state treasurer is tasked with crediting all gross revenue derived from the sale of liquor, license fees, and interest received to the liquor commission fund. After expenses for the administration of the title are paid, any remaining balance in the fund is to be deposited into the general fund on a monthly basis. The act is set to take effect 60 days after its passage, with an effective date of August 13, 2024.
