This bill adds a new ground for eviction, stating that the expiration of the term of a lease or tenancy, if it is over 6 months, can be used as a reason for eviction. The bill also requires the landlord to provide the tenant with written notice at least 30 days in advance of the termination date of the lease term if the lease will not be renewed and the tenant must vacate the rental property.
The bill adds a new subparagraph to RSA 540:2, II, stating that for leases or tenancies with an original term of 6 months or longer, or for leases or tenancies with a term of less than 6 months but have been renewed for a total period of 6 months or longer, the expiration of the lease or tenancy can be grounds for eviction. The landlord must provide the tenant with written notice at least 30 days in advance of the termination date of the lease term if the lease will not be renewed and the tenant must vacate the rental property. The bill will take effect 60 days after its passage.
