This bill proposes changes to the regulations governing political contributions by business organizations and labor unions. Specifically, it requires that such entities make political contributions through segregated funds, rather than directly from the organization's treasury. The bill amends RSA 664:4, II by inserting language that extends the prohibition of direct political contributions to business organizations, in addition to labor unions, and their respective officers, directors, executives, agents, partners, or employees acting on their behalf. However, the bill exempts sole proprietorships from this prohibition.

The bill also introduces a provision that allows labor unions and business organizations to establish political committees that operate independently, provided that the committee's expenditures and contributions are made through a separate, segregated fund consisting only of voluntary contributions from individuals associated with the union or organization, such as employees, officers, shareholders, directors, partners, or members. Additionally, the bill repeals RSA 664:4, I, which pertains to prohibited political contributions of partnerships. The act is set to take effect 60 days after its passage.
