This bill expands the eligibility for state school building aid to include chartered public schools. It establishes specific requirements and procedures for chartered public schools to receive the aid, including the submission of a maintenance plan. The bill also allows school districts and chartered public schools to resubmit projects for which there is insufficient state grant funding.

Additionally, the bill requires school districts and chartered public schools to include a maintenance plan in their construction proposals, stating their intention to maintain and service all installed equipment according to the manufacturer's instructions. They must also provide maintenance records and documentation for scheduled and unscheduled repairs, upkeep, and enhancements of district buildings. The bill also requires school districts and chartered public schools that accept school building aid for construction projects of $1,000,000 or more to engage the services of a project manager with their own insurance coverage. The bill repeals a provision that prohibits chartered public schools from receiving school building aid. The effective date of the bill is July 1, 2023.
