The resolution honors the life and service of Master Sergeant Noah Lee Tietjens, who was born on March 5, 1983, in El Paso, Texas, and later became a resident of Bellevue, Nebraska. Tietjens followed in the footsteps of his family by joining the Army Reserves in 2006, serving as a wheeled vehicle mechanic. He was actively involved in his community, teaching martial arts and participating in the Creighton Reserve Officers' Training Corps. Over his military career, he completed three deployments to Kuwait and received numerous accolades, including the Meritorious Service Medal and the Purple Heart.
Tragically, Master Sergeant Tietjens lost his life on March 1, 2026, due to an Iranian drone strike while serving in Kuwait. He was posthumously promoted to the rank of Master Sergeant and is survived by his wife, son, parents, and brothers. The Nebraska Legislature expresses its condolences to Tietjens' family and acknowledges the profound sacrifice and courage he displayed in his service to the country. A copy of the resolution will be sent to his family as a gesture of sympathy.
