The Legislative Resolution recognizes the significant contributions of Hot Meals, a volunteer-driven disaster response organization, during the wildfire emergency in western Nebraska in the spring of 2026. The organization mobilized quickly to provide food for firefighters, establishing a mobile kitchen at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds in North Platte and serving meals daily for two weeks. They later relocated to the Keith County Fairgrounds in Ogallala to continue supporting emergency personnel directly at the Incident Command Post. The resolution highlights the extraordinary generosity of the local communities, with over four hundred volunteers logging more than six hundred shifts to ensure that firefighters received the nourishment and care they needed.

In addition to commending Hot Meals for their rapid response, the resolution expresses profound gratitude to the volunteers who dedicated their time and effort to support Nebraska's firefighters during the crisis. The Nebraska Legislature aims to formally recognize the exceptional civic response of the communities in North Platte and Ogallala by transmitting copies of the resolution to the leadership of Hot Meals and the mayors of both cities.
