This bill amends section 37-420 of the Revised Statutes Cumulative Supplement, 2024, to provide specific provisions for veterans in Nebraska regarding hunting and fishing permits. It establishes that any veteran who is a legal resident of Nebraska can apply for a combination fishing, fur-harvesting, and hunting permit, along with necessary stamps, without any fee if they have an honorable discharge and are rated as fifty percent or more disabled by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Additionally, the bill introduces a new provision allowing veterans rated as ten percent or more disabled to obtain a special three-year or five-year combination fishing and hunting permit for a fee of ninety or one hundred thirty-five dollars, respectively.

The bill also includes several insertions and deletions to clarify the eligibility and conditions under which permits are issued. Notably, it specifies that permits issued without fees will be perpetual and only void upon loss of eligibility. The commission is granted the authority to adopt necessary rules and regulations to implement these changes. The original section 37-420 is repealed to accommodate these updates.
