The Hastings St. Cecilia High School softball team achieved a significant milestone by winning the Class C State Softball Championship on October 20, 2025, at Bowlin Field in Lincoln, Nebraska. They secured their victory against the Central City Bison with a close score of 5-4, marked by a dramatic walk-off in the seventh inning. This championship title is particularly noteworthy as it represents the first state championship in softball for the St. Cecilia Hawkettes, who concluded the 2025 season with an impressive record of 29-6.

In recognition of their hard work, dedication, and teamwork, the Nebraska Legislature has passed a resolution congratulating the St. Cecilia softball team on their achievement. The resolution highlights the contributions of the team members, including seniors, juniors, sophomores, and freshmen, as well as the coaching staff led by head coach Matt Rossow. A copy of the resolution will be sent to the team and their coach to commemorate this historic accomplishment.
