This bill amends section 85-2005 of the Reissue Revised Statutes of Nebraska to modify the eligibility requirements for community college gap assistance. It specifies that applicants must demonstrate their capacity to achieve certain outcomes, including acceptance and completion of eligible programs, obtaining full-time employment, and maintaining that employment over time. The bill also allows the committee to grant assistance up to the full amount of eligible costs.

Additionally, the bill introduces new language stating that applications for gap assistance will be denied if funding for the total eligible costs is available from any other public or private source. Notably, it specifies that benefits from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Employment and Training program will not be considered when determining an applicant's eligibility for gap assistance. The original section 85-2005 is repealed, and the act is set to take effect immediately upon passage and approval.
